About me

I’m Gemma (She/Her), a certified Reiki (霊気) practitioner from the Usui Ryoho Reiki tradition. Reiki allows energy blocks in the body to shift and release by giving you a space where you can completely relax. I offer time at the beginning and end of sessions to explore any thoughts and emotions that are around. This is moment to get in touch with feelings and bring awareness to where they may be showing up in the body. This can be an opportunity to enhance the overall healing effects of the reiki treatment. Reiki lets the mind and body reconnect, moving the whole system into a greater state of peace, awareness and clarity.

As a counsellor, I have seen how stress, anxiety, grief and low self-esteem in the mental and emotional body can show up in the material body with physical symptoms. In my work as a reiki practitioner, I have witnessed what happens when we give ourselves permission to relax the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing it to stimulate its own healing abilities.

What is Reiki?

Japanese buddhist scholar Mikau Usui founded the Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki system in 1922. He was a spiritual man and when facing some personal and financial difficulties he went on a 21-day retreat on Mount Kurama in Japan seeking spiritual awakening. While meditating he had a spiritual experience that gave him his ability to heal and pass this gift on to others through attunement.

Reiki lets feelings and emotions find a safe space to emerge so they can be released and transformed. This leaves the body and mind feeling lighter and clearer. Relaxation, intention and awareness are powerful seeds of healing and a Reiki treatment can provide the conditions for these to grow.

‘Lovely experience! I floated away. Was the best PMS week I’ve had in years. Highly recommend.’
